Anniversary Performance
Handel's Messiah in the Open-air!

Wednesday April 13th 2005, 1pm, Fishamble Street, Temple Bar, Dublin’s Cultural Quarter

Our Lady’s Choral Society, one of Dublin’s highly established and unique choirs, will perform excerpts of Messiah, George Frederic Handel’s greatest masterpiece, on the site of the former Neal’s Musick Hall where Messiah was first performed in 1742. The choristers will be accompanied by acclaimed tenor, Paul Byrom, and the National Sinfonia conducted by Proinnsías Ó Duinn who will lead singers, musicians and the audience in performing many well-known excerpts, including the ever-popular Hallelujah Chorus !

Temple Bar Properties has been hosting Our Lady’s Choral Society’s annual tribute on Fishamble Street since the 250th anniversary of Handel’s Messiah in 1992. This renowned event is a most enjoyable coming together for visitors and Messiah lovers alike.

2005 will see the 60th Anniversary of the foundation of Our Lady's Choral Society, and to mark the occasion, the Society will hold a concert in the National Concert Hall on 20th April with an attractive programme which will feature some of the composers most associated with the Society including; Elgar: The Music Makers, Verdi: Laudi Alla, Te Deum, Vaughan Williams: Serenade to Music and Haldel: Zadok the Priest.

Come in a group, as a couple, or in solitary splendour but do come – it costs nothing, it’s outdoors and is a wonderful afternoon out!

This event takes place in the OLD CITY, Dublin’s newest shopping district, which centres on Cow’s Lane, a new pedestrian street running from Lord Edward Street to Essex Street West in Temple Bar.
