Speaker's Square revived in Temple Bar
Cearnóg na gCainteoirí Baile Átha Cliath
Temple Bar Square, Dublin, every Sunday between 2pm and 6pm. Picture the scene. Poets, politicians, psychologists, sociologists, religious freaks, actors, mime artists, comedians and campaigners, with the public watching on, haggling or debating topics: no, this is not Hyde Park London, but Temple Bar Square on a Sunday afternoon.
Speaker's Square / Cearnóg na gCainteoirí is an initiative by Rossa Ó Snodaigh in conjunction with Temple Bar Properties to provide a forum for city dwellers to address the public on matters that are of concern to them.
Cearnóg na gCainteoirí / Speaker's Square is run on a first come, first serve basis. Speakers are encouraged to speak in any language, provided it's not foul language. The law of the land will apply as it does nationwide - in that it is an offence to incite hatred or slander anyone in public. So come along, exercise your right to free speech on Temple Bar Square on Sunday afternoons!
