Luas art competition in association with Culture Night - DEADLINE EXTENDED...

On Friday the 17th of August 2007 RPA in association with Dublin Culture Night organised by Temple Bar Cultural Trust launched a uniquely democratic art competition. The aim of the competition is to allow you the Luas Customers and the general public to add something beautiful, funny, moving or engaging to the Luas experience.

There are two important things to know about the Luas Art Competition:
1. It is open to anyone and everyone
2. It is open to any art form; the only condition is that the finished work can be printed flat so that it can be displayed as a poster.

RPA are interested in submissions of photography, photos of paintings or sculpture, short stories, funny stories, poetry, graphic designs or indeed any work that can be printed flat.

The prize for the artist is that the winning entry will be posted for a two to four week period on all Luas Stops. The winners will be announced in November 2007. The winners may also have their entries displayed in other locations such as inside some of the Luas Red Line Trams, at fixed sites on the Luas system or in the RPA 2008 Calendar.

Entries will be divided into groups based on art form and age of contributor and judged on an anonymous basis by a qualified panel.

So far LUAS have had lots of interest and have received a number of beautiful and striking submissions. The closing date for submissions was Friday 28th of September 2007 but it has now been extended to Sunday 7th of October to allow you a bit more time.
