More great arts and cultural developments in Temple Bar

Dublins Cultural Quarter, home to over 50 arts and cultural organisations received a great this week as the decision was made to grant planning for a project that will bring one of Europes oldest built theatres back to life.

The wonderful news of the work to Smock Alley Theatre was warmly welcomed by Temple Bar Cultural Trust and commenting on the news Dermot McLaughlin, CEO said We are just delighted that these ambitious and realistic plans for this wonderful building have been met with approval as this large step on the cultural ladder for Dublin is fundamental to the future of professional training in performing arts both locally, nationally and internationally

Two large theatres, a studio space and a café are just some of the things the public have a chance to look forward to with the original walls dating from the 1660s being incorporated into the design.

This development is funded by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism and private contributions.
