We are delighted to announce that Streetsong, an electro-acoustic work by Ailís Ní Ríain commissioned by the Contemporary Music Centre and funded by Temple Bar Cultural Trust and Dublin City Council, has won joint first prize in the ISCM World New Music Festival (4-29 July 2006) in Germany.
ISCM World New Music Festival (4-29 July 2006) is the official festival of the Internationale Gesellschaft für Neue Musik (International Society for New Music, ISCM). It is held in one of the fifty member countries each year (last held in Germany in 1995) and reflects the newest developments in contemporary music.
Streetsong was one of three sound installations as part of Old City/New Music. Old City/New Music was one of the 15th Anniversary Special Events in this years Diversions Festival 2006.
Ailis Ni Riain's sound installation, Streetsong, was played during the month of June from the front of the Contemporary Music Centre on Fishamble Street, Temple Bar. This award is fantastic news for Ailis and we are delighted to have played a part in the production of this work.
