The winner of the 2006 Diversions Short Film Award is Rógairí /Villains an Irish language film with English subtitles directed by Tom Cosgrove and produced by Catherine O�Flaherty of Igloo Films.
Rógairí/Villains is set in 1763 and tells the story of an evil landlord who vies to inherit the Rotherham Estate by nefarious means. His diabolical crimes are witnessed by a witch who vows a terrible revenge against him.
The winning 16 minute short film received Euro4,000 and was screened on Meeting House Square in June as part of Short Film Award screenings which precede the feature films for Movies on the Square as part of the Diversions Festival.
The Diversions Short Film Award was established in 2001 and is funded directly by Temple Bar Cultural Trust. It intends to recognise the importance of quality short films in Irish cinema.

Past recipients of the award include Give Up Yer Ol� Sins by Cathal Gaffney and last years winner The Ten Steps by Brendan Muldowney.
