The Touring Experiment, an initiative of The Arts Council has announced the first group of participating organisations in 2007.
These 8 organisations, with whom The Touring Experiment (TTE) will be working as part of an action research project, will provide TTE with research data concerning the realities of touring in Ireland.
The purpose of this research project is to uncover the real costs of touring and to inform and shape future policy for touring in the Republic of Ireland. All of the information gathered as part of this project will be compiled in a report to Council, which will be submitted by 31 March 2008.
The Arts Council will be working with a number of partners to realise this initiative including, the Irish Theatre Institute in relation to theatre and dance, Key Cultural in relation to music and, in the visual arts, with IMMA.
The Arts Council has contracted Temple Bar Cultural Trust to manage The Touring Experiment based on its experience of managing publicly funded programmes for multi-artform touring.
