Temple Bar based theatre company Fishamble were awarded Special Jury�s prize at the Irish Times Theatre Awards on Sunday night at The Burlington Hotel for their season of short, site specific new plays titled WHEREABOUTS.
WHEREABOUTS was a co-production with Temple Bar Cultural Trust for the 2006 Diversions Festival � Irelands, longest and largest festival of FREE outdoor events.
Fishamble took to the streets of Temple Bar - Indoor and outdoor locations such as a nightclub, an alleyway, a boutique and many more came to life in a series of dramatic brief encounters. Audience members could choose the daytime or evening trail - or both - and immerse themselves in the strange and wonderful stories that were played out in the heart of the city.
The series of plays were by Mojisola Adebayo, Shane Carr, John Cronin, John Grogan, Louise Lowe, Belinda McKeon Colin Murphy, Anna Newell, Jack Olohan, Jody O�Neill, Jacqueline Strawbridge and Tom Swift.
Speaking about the win Gráinne Millar, Head of Cultural Development with Temple Bar Cultural Trust said �The response from the public and the media to this unique theatrical experience really exceeded our expectations. It was a fantastic addition to our special 15th anniversary programme of events last year.
